Maintenance and repair on existing tile, stone and grout

When helping to design your install/remodel project, please ask that we inspect the other tiled areas throughout your home. Emerald Isle Tile can restore and help keep your existing tile and grout serviced and sealed for the future. By keeping your existing tile and grout maintained you can help avoid costly tear-outs, moisture damage, dry rot and mold. Wet areas (i.e. showers, outside decks and patios) are at a higher risk of moisture damage. Emerald Isle Tile recommends that these be areas be inspected annually. Below is a list of on-going maintenance services we provide.

Cleaning and sealing porcelain and ceramic tiles.
Grout will absorb body oils and moisture in showers; grout will darken and stain over time. Often tile will have soap scum, hard water spots, and may look dingy and dull. We recommend that you have your tile and grout professionally inspected, cleaned and sealed every one or two years.
 
Re-grouting (non-sanded grouts).
Overtime non-sanded grouts will develop cracks and allow moisture to migrate through the joints between the tiles to the wallboard. Non-sanded grouts should be re-grouted every eight to ten years. If left unattended this could lead to moisture damage, mold, and dry-rot.

Caulking.
Most caulking will start peeling, growing mold and may become loose over time. We can remove compromised caulking, and replace it with 100% silicone caulking.

Cleaning and sealing stone.
Natural stone tile and slab should be lightly cleaned with a non-acidic cleaner and sealed annually.

Epoxy Sealing (sanded grout only)
After completing a three step preparation process on the sanded grout, we will apply a colored epoxy sealer over the grout joints. This process not only color corrects and restores the natural color tone of the grout throughout, but also outperforms all other sealers by lasting over ten years.

Repair
On occasion you may discover a broken or loose tile. Maybe a small area of grout that is cracked or missing. We can handle minor repair work and blend everything to match.

Polishing, refinishing and repair of stone.
When the surface of the stone is dulled, scratched or etched. We can refinish the stone to its original luster and repair chips and cracks such that they cannot be detected. 

Epoxy or Urethane grouting
On some occasions switching to an epoxy grout OR urethane grout may be a desired option; especially for outside deck and patio areas.
