Under-floor heating

There are many under-floor heating systems on the market today “Nu-Heat” and “Sun Touch” to mention but a few. Emerald Isle Tile can install the above (or any other) under floor heating system upon request.

Over the past few years our preferred under floor heating system is the radiant positing mats (RPM) system from Master HEAT. Unlike other under floor heating systems the RPM system provides the following added advantages:

  1. RPM mats replace the traditional cement or fiberglass board installation; while still achieving the desired rigidity for installation of new tiles.     
  2. The heat cable is unspooled directly into the mats, below the installer’s feet, minimizing the risk of the heating cable getting damaged during installation.
  3. In the event a portion of the flooring needs to be removed, the heat cable stays protected from any flooring removal tools, greatly reducing the risk of damage to the heat cable.    
  4. Faster and easier to install than other systems.

A continuity test is carried out on the cable prior to installation. After the RPM mats are installed we lay the wire between the studs of the RPM mats. The stud spacing is configured to allow the cable to be installed at any desired spacing. Rubber grommets keep the cable in place during installation. With an ohm meter the cable is tested again. A cement based self-leveling compound is poured into the RPM mats and the top of the studs are used as the screeding surface. A final test on the cable will be carried out.  

A programmable thermostat will be installed at your desired location.
